Charles Turner Jr., 86, died on Nov. 16/09. Charles founded and remained very active, working every day, at Turner Rental a tools, equipment, and party rental store located in Birmingham, Alabama. Since Mr.Turner’s rental business opened in July 1978, he had been actively operating the day to day rental operations.

Mr.Turner joined the military to fight for his country in World War II. Upon leaving the military, he began his long career in retail sales with the W.T. Grant Co., as a store clerk. By the time Grant closed its doors in 1976, Charles had been with the company for  30 years, ultimately becoming merchandise manager for the Southeast U.S.

Mr.Turner then returned to Birmingham, Alabama with his family and opened a rental business that eventually became Turner Rental with stores in Hoover, Irondale and Center Point, AL. The focus of the business shifted to party rentals and sales with the opening of the Party Time rental store in Vestavia Hills in 1993.

According to his family, he loved the rental businesses he built and the many friends he made through those businesses over the years.
